Tradition range

The TRADITION range is refreshing and fruit forward, expressing the true identity of the grape variety. The grapes are sourced  from various soils mainly composed of limestone loess and loam/clay, which are located in Husseren-les-châteaux, Eguisheim and surroundings between 300 and 400 metres in altitude, bringing always wonderful acidities. 100% hand-harvested, the grapes are slowly pressed for 3 to 6 hours before decantation and until the beginning of the fermentation.
The maturation on fine lies will provide stability and body to the wines, before filtration and bottling..

Trois Chateaux range

The TROIS CHATEAUX range, our organic and biodynamic wines range, is made exclusively with our owned vines, grown with the principles of BIODYNAMIC viticulture since 2004. Kuentz-Bas has officially received the organic certification for the vintage 2007 and the biodynamic certification (Demeter) for the vintage 2008. TROIS CHATEAUX wines are authentic, emphasizing the expression of the terroir on which they are grown.

TROIS CHATEAUX wines are raised according to ancestral biodynamic practices without modern technology. The whole grapes are delicately pressed for 8 to 16 hours in order to extract the finest aromas from each berry. The fermentation takes place for 6 to 8 months, in the most natural way, to emphasize the work done in the vineyard. The fermentation with indigenous yeasts bgins and stops on its own. Ce sont des vins authentiques exprimant au mieux le terroir dont ils proviennent. Vous découvrirez dans ces vins, plaisir, émotion et authenticité grâce à leur personnalité et à l’empreinte de leur terroir.

Once the fermentation is completed, the wines are raised on fine lies, before filtration and bottling."The Wine, a healthy and natural beverage", Louis Pasteur, the best definition of great wines.

Vendanges tardives & Sélections de Grains Nobles

The VENDANGES TARDIVES (late harvest) and SELECTIONS DE GRAINS NOBLES (noble rot wine) are made of grapes from our grands Crus (Eichberg, Pfersigberg, Florimont) ideally exposed to the sun and perfectly suited for the production of highly concentrated berries. The grapes are harvested several weeks after the rest of the grapes, in accordance to the climatic harvested condition of the vintage. Berries are delicately pressed for 12 to 24h to extract delicious nectar with extraordinarily intense aromas. These wines express maturity, ripe fruits and Botrytis, while the expression of the grape variety is more discreet.

Cuvée Caroline since 1981: Vendanges Tardives are produced exclusively during exceptional vintages, benefiting of windy, cold but sunny conditions in the end of the harvest season, allowing the grapes to develop over maturity. Each style of over maturation will give complexity and intensity to the wines.

Cuvée Jérémy since 1983 : Sélections de Grains Nobles ae exclusively  made from grapes affected by Botrytis (noble rot), meticulously sorted during the harvest, to keep only the very best grapes.

These exceptional nectars can only be produced during the vintages that combine all of the required climatic conditions.
